Up until mid 2022, I had been in the query trenches for 4 years and racked up over 100 rejections (but I lost count) for various manuscripts. A classic case of jumping in too soon.
All my previous research had been on craft and querying. Now that I am past that, feel like I know both a lot and nothing at all about the process of getting a picture book published. From the outside we often see when a writer posts about the big milestones but there is so much that goes on behind the page.
